Arrival & Logistics

Arrival

All sitters must arrive by 3:30 PM — no exceptions. The event begins at 4:00 PM. Be set up, in position, and ready to receive children before the first family walks in. Check in with Arezou on arrival.

Departure: The event ends at 5:30 PM, but sitters stay until 6:00 PM to clean, tidy, and fully reset the room. Please plan your evening accordingly — 6:00 PM is your out time, not 5:30 PM.

Child check-in & check-out: Arezou checks every child in at drop-off and out at pickup. Sitters do not check children in or out — if a parent approaches you to drop off or collect a child, walk them to Arezou.

Dress code

Comfortable and sensible — you will be outside and active. No ripped jeans, no revealing clothing. Closed-toe shoes required (sneakers or similar). Bring a hat, sunscreen, and a water bottle. Full policy: callemmy.com/sitter-faq

Food: We do not provide any snacks or food. Some parents may pack a snack with their child — if so, it is not served until 4:45 PM. There is no food for sitters at this event, so please eat beforehand and bring your own water bottle.

Parking

Park in the MSD (Montessori School of Denver) parking lot on site — parking is free. There is no parking reimbursement for this event.

First Aid & Cpr — Required

All Call Emmy sitters are required to be certified in First Aid and CPR before working any event. Complete the American Red Cross Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED online course (~2 hours, available 24/7): redcross.org/take-a-class. Have your certificate ready to show Arezou before your shift begins.

General Expectations

  • No child is to be alone with a sitter at any time — always two sitters accompany a child to the restroom or for a diaper change
  • No child over the age of 36 months is to sit on the lap of a sitter
  • For bathroom assistance, guide the child in how to clean themselves — talk them through it rather than doing it for them
  • Phones are for emergencies and communication with Arezou only during program hours — no personal scrolling in front of children or parents
  • Be warm, engaged, and child-led at all times
  • You are a professional — when a child is upset or escalating, use your training to de-escalate calmly and child-led. Only involve Arezou if the situation is beyond routine de-escalation (safety concern, sustained distress, medical, or behavioral emergency).
  • Parents are on-site at the happy hour — text Arezou first; she will loop in parents as needed
  • Arezou handles all child check-in and check-out — never release a child directly to an adult
  • Never leave children unattended, indoors or on the lawn. Do a headcount at every transition.
  • Keep the space tidy and welcoming at all times
  • End-of-event cleanup is part of your role — you are on until 6:00 PM and the room must be fully reset before you leave

Groups & Coverage

  • Infant 1:1One dedicated sitter is assigned to the one-year-old for the entire event. This sitter stays with the infant at all times and does not rotate.
  • Guided craft stationSitters run the guided arts & crafts project at the tables so every child finishes something to take home
  • Lawn gamesRuns in parallel with the craft station the whole time. Children move freely between the two; sitters stay with their station and keep a headcount.
  • Coverage is fluid — the two activities run side by side, so stay at your assigned station and follow Arezou's direction on transitions.

Schedule · Wednesday, August 5

3:30 PM — Sitter arrival & setup: Set out the guided craft materials, lay out lawn game equipment, prep the infant area with a blanket and quiet toys

4:00 PM — Drop-off begins & free play: Arezou checks each child in; greet families warmly and settle children into the space

4:15 PM — Guided arts & crafts + lawn games (parallel): Craft station runs the guided project step by step; lawn games run at the same time. Children choose and move between them.

4:45 PM — Snack: Any snack a parent packed is served now — we do not provide food.

5:10 PM — Wind-down: Quieter mixed play; gather each child's finished project and label it with their name.

5:30 PM — Pickup: Event ends. Arezou checks each child out; hand the child's project to them as they go.

5:30–6:00 PM — Cleanup & room reset: Clean and tidy the space, pack supplies, reset the room. Arezou signs off before you leave.

Activity Guide

Guided arts & crafts: This is a guided project, not open-ended crafting. Sitters walk the children through the steps so every child finishes something to take home. Paper, markers, crayons, stickers, and glue at the tables. Write each child's name on the back and make sure it goes home with them at pickup.

Lawn games: Runs in parallel with the craft station all evening. Simple, inclusive group games (parachute, bubbles, tag variations, relay races). Keep every game opt-in — a child who prefers to sit and watch is fine.

Free play: Child-led. Your job is presence and safety, not direction. Join in when invited.
